I’m Wes, your guide. Nice to meet you!
My dad got me into fishing as a young boy, growing up in the Otsego County, NY area fishing the local streams and lakes. Many days before and after school I would be out on the stream that ran through the little town I lived in fishing for trout.
These days I enjoy fly fishing for trout and bass as well as fishing from of my 20’ center console boat. In the fall I like to fish for salmon, brown trout and steelhead trout that come out of Lake Ontario. The early spring is another good time to fish for steelhead trout. I’ve also caught walleyes, both large and small mouth bass, perch, and stripe bass over the years.
In 2016 I became a New York State guide. Since then I have enjoyed taking people out on the streams and the lakes around this area. Hope to show you around and help you catch a few!

Reels & Rods Guide Service provides year-round guided fishing trips in Central New York by boat, on stream and ice fishing trips in the winter!
GUIDELINES
All fisherman 16 years and older must have a New York State fishing license. One can be purchased online at dec.ny.gov, or you can purchase at Walmart, Dicks or other sporting goods stores.
Please wear proper apparel and have some things ready for your fishing trip:
- Hat
- Sunscreen
- Water & Food
- Raincoat if needed
- Warm clothing if needed
- Fishing license.
